The budget session of Parliament is starting today (22 July). Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the media before the proceedings of Parliament began. He said that today is the first Monday of Sawan. An important session is starting on this auspicious day. The eyes of the whole country are fixed on this session. The country is watching very closely that this session of Parliament should be positive, constructive and lay a strong foundation to fulfill the dreams of the countrymen.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, I see this as an important milestone in India's glorious journey of democracy. Personally, it is a matter of great pride for me and all my colleagues that after almost 60 years a government has come back for the third time and is presenting the first budget of the third term.
He said that the budget we will present tomorrow is an important budget of Amritkaal. The five-year opportunity we have got, this budget will determine our direction for those five years. This budget will strengthen the dreams of developed India by 2047. It is a matter of pride for every citizen that India is the fastest growing country among the big economies. We have been moving ahead at a constant growth rate of 8 percent for the last 3 years. Today positivity about India is increasing, investment is at its peak, this in itself is an important milestone in India's development journey.
The PM said that I want to urge all the MPs of the country to remember the struggle we have had to go through since last January. Some tried to show the way. Some tried to mislead, but now that era is over, the public has given its verdict. I want to tell all the parties to rise above party lines and dedicate themselves to the country and use this prestigious platform of Parliament for the next 4.5 years. Whatever game you play in the election year of January 2029, till then we have to play our role for the empowerment of farmers, youth and the nation.
The Prime Minister said that the countrymen have sent us here not for the party but for the country. This House is not for the party but for the country. I believe that all our MPs should be ready to take the discussion forward, no matter how many opposing views there are. The country needs to move forward with the ideology of progress and not negativity. We will try to fulfill the aspirations of the common humanity of India from this temple of democracy.
