Motor Vehicle Act Update in Punjab: Now from August 1, if a minor is caught driving a two-wheeler or four-wheeler in Punjab, his parents will be sentenced to 3 years in prison and fined Rs 25,000. This will be considered a violation of Section 199-A and 199-B of the Motor Vehicles Act.
If a minor borrows a two-wheeler or four-wheeler from someone and is caught driving it, action will be taken against the owner of that vehicle. This order has been given in writing by Traffic ADGP A.S. Roy to the state Police Commissioner and SSP.
By July 31, minors have been asked to educate their families about the Motor Vehicles Act so that they are aware of the rules. Along with this, the traffic police have also been asked to make students aware of the rules by organizing camps and seminars in schools. Earlier, the traffic police had made people aware about drunk and drive, wearing seat belts and helmets. Now strictness has been imposed on them.
