Anti-Narcotics Cell nabs Nigerian woman with mephedrone worth Rs 87 lakh

Mumbai: Another Nigerian woman has been arrested in connection with the seizure of mephedrone worth more than Rs 2 crore in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. Mephedrone worth Rs 87 lakh was recovered from her. Earlier, two youths were arrested in this racket. An official gave this information on Saturday.

Earlier on July 16, two drug peddlers were going to sell mephedrone on the Sion Panvel Highway in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. Such information was received by the Anti Narcotics Cell. Based on which a trap was laid to catch the accused. Later, Mahim residents Salauddin Shaikh (AD 21) and Fazal Khan (AD 21) who were roaming suspiciously near the bus stop in Vashi were caught and searched and one kilogram of mephedrone worth Rs 2 crore was found from them. A case was registered against them under the Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Both the accused told the police during interrogation that they had bought a large quantity of mephedrone from a Nigerian woman living in Naigaon of Palghar district. After this, the team of Anti Narcotics Cell laid a trap and caught the woman. 432 grams of mephedrone was found from her. Its cost is Rs 86.40 lakh.

So far, three accused have been arrested in this racket and mephedrone worth Rs 2.87 crore has been seized.
