Spain's Manolo Marquez has been appointed the new coach of the Indian men's football team. He is currently the coach of the Indian Super League team FC Goa. This decision was taken in the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Football Federation.

The executive committee meeting of the All India Football Federation was held on Saturday. A decision was taken in this meeting regarding the new coach. The AIFF said in its statement, 'The new head coach of the senior men's national team was discussed in the first day's meeting and Manolo Marquez has been selected as the new coach. He will also be seen as the head coach of FC Goa in the 2024-25 season.
AIFF chief issued a statement
After appointing Manolo Marquez as the coach, AIFF chief Kalyan Chaubey said in his statement, 'We are happy to welcome him. We wanted to work with him for a long time.' No update has been released on his tenure yet. Team India failed to make it to the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. After this, Igor Stimac was removed from the post of head coach on 17 June.
Manolo Marquez expressed happiness
After being appointed as the coach of the Indian national football team, Manolo Marquez said, 'It is an honour for me. I consider India as my second home. I feel attached to this country and its people. I would also like to thank the FC Goa club for releasing me even though I am still the head coach of the club.'
