Diarrhea prevention program launched in Kamrup (Metro) district

Guwahati, July 20 (HS). The 'Diarrhea Prevention Program' has been launched on Saturday across the state as well as in Kamrup (Metro) district. The two-month long program was inaugurated by Dr. MS Lakshmi Priya, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Assam at Khanapara State Ayushman Health Complex in the city.

The aim of the programme is to prevent diarrhoea caused by floods in many parts of the district. The aim of the programme is that no child should die of diarrhoea. Keeping this in mind, awareness will be created among students in Anganwadi centres and schools in the district to use toilets and on the importance of hand washing habits and drinking clean drinking water, in order to make parents aware.

All children aged 0-5 years in the district will be included in the diarrhea prevention program and ORS and zinc tablets will be distributed among the children. ASHA workers in the district will go door-to-door to make people aware and distribute ORS and zinc tablets.

Chief Medical and Health Officer (Infectious Diseases) of Kamrup (Metro) district Dr. Apurva Krishna Sharma, Medical Officer-in-Charge of Khanapara State Ayushman Arogya Kendra Dr. Mukuta Medhi, hospital officials and staff were present at the inauguration ceremony.
