Out of 56 Rajya Sabha seats vacant in April, BJP has won 30 seats. With this victory, BJP's morale has further increased before the Lok Sabha elections. However, the victory was anyway certain and this was because wherever elections were held, there was either a BJP government or an NDA alliance in those states. In such a situation, it was certain that BJP would get more seats.
At the same time, BJP has now come very close to majority in Rajya Sabha on its own. Out of 56 Rajya Sabha seats vacant in April, BJP has won 30 seats. Of these, 20 were elected unopposed. 10 seats were won through voting. With this, the number of BJP led NDA MPs in Rajya Sabha will increase to 117.
In this election, cross voting took place in Himachal and Uttar Pradesh. Due to this, BJP has gained one seat each in Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. With this the number of BJP MPs will increase to 97.
