Gorakhpur, 20 July (HS). Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has said that sometimes extreme heat, sometimes excessive rain and sometimes untimely floods are warnings about the future and global warming. Taking cognizance of this warning, we are engaged in fulfilling the resolution of making Mother Earth green again. In line with this resolution, on the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government has created a new record by achieving the target of planting 36.50 crore saplings in a day in Uttar Pradesh with widespread public participation. The Chief Minister has congratulated all the people of the state for this new record.
Chief Minister Yogi was addressing the program organized here after planting a Parijat sapling at Shaheed Ashfaqulla Khan Zoological Park (Gorakhpur Zoo) on Saturday evening under the 'Ped Lagao-Ped Bachao Vanopan Jan Abhiyan-2024' dedicated to 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' on the call of Prime Minister Modi. Discussing the changes coming in the environment, the Chief Minister said that people will remember this year's heat for a long time. Usually the temperature in Gorakhpur and surrounding districts used to be 42-43 degrees, but this year the temperature reached 46-47 degrees. Extreme heat, severe heatwave, excessive rainfall, untimely floods, sometimes drought, all these draw attention towards global warming. Last year, floods occurred in October, whereas earlier floods used to occur maximum till 15 September.
Yogi Adityanath said that there was never a flood in the first week of July. But this year, floods occurred in the first week of July and this affected 24 districts of the state. He said that this change in the weather is a warning about the future. We have to make improvements in time, otherwise nature will make improvements on its own. Taking cognizance of this warning of nature, record plantation has been done today with the participation of the public in the entire state. Following the call of PM Modi, one tree in the name of mother, every person, institution, department in the state is associated with this sacred work. In the state, three trees have been planted in the name of mother by one person. Everywhere, the same call was seen, we have to plant trees, save trees and save the environment.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that in the last seven years, a record has been created by planting 168 crore saplings in the state. Out of these, 75-80 percent trees are safe. Somewhere Nakshatra Vatika has been built, somewhere Navgrah Vatika and Harishankari Vatika. The Chief Minister said that there is no shortage of plants in the state. The Forest and Horticulture Department and private nurseries had 50 crore saplings. Out of these, 36.50 crore have been used in today's campaign and the remaining saplings will also be planted gradually.
