The low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal has now turned into a depression. The Meteorological Department said that the low pressure area formed over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal has turned into a depression on Friday off the south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coast. According to the Meteorological Department, it is about 50 km south-southwest of Puri in Odisha, 90 km east of Gopalpur, 140 km southwest of Paradip and 200 km northeast of Kalingapatnam (Andhra Pradesh). It can weaken within 24 hours
The depression is likely to move northwestwards and cross the Odisha coast near Puri by Saturday afternoon. It will then move west-northwestwards over Odisha and Chhattisgarh. It will then gradually weaken over the next 24 hours. The bulletin said that the system will continue to move northwestwards. Due to which heavy to very heavy rains will occur over coastal, northern and western parts of the state from Friday night.

The IMD has said that heavy rains may continue till Saturday evening. The latest bulletin said that due to the storm, heavy rains may occur in western Odisha till Tuesday. The CEC bulletin further said that moderate to heavy rains are likely again in north and west Odisha from Tuesday. This includes the catchment areas of major rivers like Upper Mahanadi, Vetrani, Brahmani, Budhabalanga and Subarnarekha and Jharkhand due to the presence of a cyclonic circulation over North Odisha. Which will continue till next Friday.

Meteorological Department sources said that winds are expected to blow at a speed of 45-55 kmph to 65 kmph over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and northern Andhra Pradesh, Odisha coasts on July 19 and 20 and thereafter it will gradually decrease. According to meteorologists, the sea condition may remain rough over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and Odisha coasts today. The Meteorological Department has advised fishermen not to go into the sea.

The Meteorological Department has issued an advisory which has been sent to the Chief Secretaries of West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Telangana. The IMD has said in its advisory that during this period, there may be rain with strong winds. Heavy rain may occur at some places and strong winds may cause property damage. The Meteorological Department said that heavy rains are expected in South and North Odisha on July 20. Apart from this, heavy rains are also expected in the Gangetic areas of West Bengal, coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Vidarbha.

Apart from this, the Meteorological Department has said that on Saturday, there will be heavy rains at isolated places over Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana, South Interior Karnataka, Coastal areas of Karnataka, Vidarbha Heavy There is a possibility of rain. There is a possibility of rain in Gujarat region on 21st July and in Saurashtra and Kutch on 22nd July.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated/many places over Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat state, coastal & south interior Karnataka during next 5 days and over Keran & Mahe during 20-21 July, Telangana, coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Tamil Nadu, Odisha on July 20, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Marathwada.

What is the situation in the states of North West India
Scattered to widespread rain is expected over Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi. Scattered to moderate rain is expected over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit and Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Western Rajasthan during the next 5 days.

There is a possibility of sporadic to heavy rains in eastern Rajasthan on July 21. Such conditions will be seen in Himachal Pradesh on July 22 and 23 and in UP on July 20-22.

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding rain in the state. Red alert has been declared for rain in some districts of South Gujarat today. Red alert with very heavy rain in Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli. Orange alert with heavy to very heavy rain in Devbhoomi Dwarka, Porbandar, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Amreli and Rajkot and Yellow alert with heavy rain in Kutch, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Bharuch Narmada Tapi and Dang.
