Nearly 800 calls were received in the last 3 days
Diamond Workers Union Vice President Bhavesh Tank said that the diamond industry has been facing recession for the last two years. The economic condition of the artisans is very bad. Two days ago we have started a helpline number. Even after repeatedly informing the government, the government has not woken up from its Kumbhakaran sleep. Our proposal to the government was to announce an economic package and help the families of jewelers who committed suicide, but we still feel that the government is sleeping like Kumbhakaran.
The tagline of the helpline we started was that jewelers should not commit suicide, they should call us, under which we have received more than 800 calls within two days. In which 600 calls are about them not having any work, no employment and lack of employment and other calls are about them facing problems in paying rent, children's school fees, mental harassment by landlord, bank installments etc., while there were 5 calls where people had given up hope and had reached the last stage, we called all the five people to the office and helped them as much as we could.
He further said that I want to tell the jewelers that jewelers do not commit suicide, call us and we will help you, I also request the owners to help these jewelers, today is a bad time, jewelers need your help. In good times, these jewelers will take your company forward with hard work.
