Ever since Tesla and SpaceX owner Elon Musk bought microblogging site X (formerly Twitter), the controversy is not stopping. Now a new controversy has come to light. A report has revealed that terrorist groups are taking full advantage of the premium service on Elon Musk's X.
Shocking revelation in the report
A report by the Tech Transparency Project (TTP) has shockingly revealed that Elon Musk's social media platform X is providing premium services to two leaders and organizations recognized by the US government as terrorist groups. The report identified more than a dozen X accounts from US-accredited organizations that had blue ticks on them. Let us tell you here that according to the new rules of X, now users will have to buy paid premium service for Blue Tick. Whereas earlier it was not so. Earlier the company used to give blue tick to those users whose popularity was checked by their team.
multiple benefits
Of these, 18 accounts had taken X's premium service in April last year. Ever since X started charging for authenticity. Paying monthly or annual fees for premium service through these accounts indicates that X is engaging in financial transactions with these accounts, potentially in violation of US sanctions, the report said.
Blue tick removed
When TTP researchers asked an X representative about these accounts, he said it would be looked into. But no comment was made. Hours after the report was published, all blue ticks on X's report were removed and an account belonging to the Iranian-sponsored militia Harakat al-Nujaba was suspended, the report said. Among those losing blue ticks were accounts belonging to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and the Houthi rebels in Yemen.
However, X also released a statement from the company's security account saying that teams have reviewed the TTP report and will take action if necessary. According to the company, many of the accounts listed in the technology transparency report were not directly nominated for the whitelist. While some others may have a visible checkmark without receiving any services that will be subject to restrictions. A blue tick on the Whose price is eight dollars per month i.e. 84 dollars per year. While Premium Plus costs $16 per month or $168 per year. A gold mark indicates that an account has paid X to become a 'Verified Organization'.
