Bikaner, July 19 (HS). For the first time, certified seeds will be produced at the level of Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University. The scientists of the Agricultural University are making efforts for this under the National Seed Project. In this sequence, a one-day training program was organized by the National Seed Project on seed certification and various problems necessary for base and certified seed production. This program organized in the Human Resource Development Ministry Auditorium was chaired by Registrar Dr. Devaram Saini.
In the program, Registrar Dr. Deva Ram Saini said that we often see farmers getting affected by fake seeds and fake fertilizers. In such a situation, if the scientists of Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University provide good quality certified seeds of various crops to the farmers, then this will not only improve the reputation of the university but will also benefit the farmers. Agricultural scientists should work with the timeline and provide maximum benefit to the farmers. The demand for certified seeds of the university will also increase.
Earlier, Deputy Seed Certification Officer Ashok Kumar Bansal and Assistant Seed Certification Officer Sanjeev Kumar of Rajasthan State Seed and Organic Certification Institute presented lectures on seed certification, seed registration and best seed production and discussed with the agricultural scientists present in the program. In the program, ADR Seed Dr. PC Gupta gave a welcome speech and said that in the meeting held on April 13, 2024 under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Dr. Arun Kumar regarding breeding seed producer, the Vice Chancellor had directed regarding certified seed production. In this sequence, efforts are on to produce certified seeds of moth and moong at the agricultural university level. Dr. Gupta said that certified seeds of pulses crops are being produced at Agricultural Research Center Sriganganagar and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Abusar Jhunjhunu under the Agricultural University. Soon the production of certified seeds will start at the agricultural university level as well.
