Bathymetric survey started to know the depth and shape of the bottom of Naini lake

Nainital, July 18 (HS). Bathymetric survey of the world famous Naini Lake located in Nainital has started by the survey team of Indian Navy ship INS Sarvekshak. It has been told that the purpose of this survey is to collect accurate information and data about the depth of the lake and the shape of the lake bottom.

This survey is being led by Captain Tribhuvan Singh, alumnus of Kumaon University and Commanding Officer of INS Survey. The team also includes Lieutenant Commander Deepak Bisht and five sailors. This survey is being conducted under the direction of Captain Chandravijay Negi, Commanding Officer of 5-UK Naval Unit, the only NCC unit of the Indian Navy based in Nainital. A large flat-bottom boat has also been provided to the team for accurate and efficient data collection. Along with this, a safe place has also been provided for the safety of the equipment and maintenance of survey equipment. NCC will also provide administrative and other assistance to this team.

It has been told that for bathymetric survey, Indian Navy has been collecting information about the depth and density of the sea and other ecology with the help of divers. This experiment is being done for the first time in Naini lake. This survey will continue for a week. It is believed that this survey will prove to be important for the conservation and future management of the lake.
