Due to continuous heavy rains in the hilly areas, all the rivers and natural water sources are in spate. Due to which life has become completely disrupted.
Heavy rain warning in Pithoragarh, Bageshwar
The Meteorological Department has also issued an alert of heavy rain in Pithoragarh and Bageshwar of Kumaon on Thursday. Heavy rain has been continuing in Pithoragarh since late night. The water level of Mandakini river has started rising. Heavy rain has also caused heavy destruction in Dharchula Munsiyari of Pithoragarh. Due to continuous rain, many roads including Nolda Khatera motor road in Talla Johar area of Munsiyari are closed.

Due to heavy rains, soil erosion is also taking place from the Mandakini river. The Mandakini river is seen in its fierce form in the Madkot area. The situation is such that the embankments and safety walls have also been badly damaged due to the fast flow of water. The Mandakini river is moving towards the Bhaurabagad and Devibagad residential areas. Apart from this, due to heavy rains, the bridge connecting the Gram Sabha Bung-Bung Simkhola also got washed away in the strong flow of the river. Due to which the connectivity of 70 families living here has also been cut off. The local people have demanded the district administration to immediately arrange for a temporary bridge.
