Dehradun, July 16 (HS). Due to monsoon, the number of devotees in Chardham has reduced a lot. In the months of May and June, the number of pilgrims in the four Dhams was crossing 50 thousand every day, which has come down to only 5-7 thousand in the monsoon season. Monsoon rains have been continuing in the state since July 1. Due to this, devotees are avoiding Chardham Yatra in the monsoon season.

Due to monsoon, the pace of Uttarakhand's world famous Chardham Yatra has started to slow down. Fewer pilgrims are seen in Rishikesh, the entry point of Chardham Yatra. At the same time, the number of pilgrims visiting the Dhams daily has also decreased. This year, the Chardham Yatra started on 10 May with the opening of the doors of Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham.

So far in the last two months, 30 lakh 71 thousand 587 pilgrims have visited the Dhams. The Chardham Yatra was at its peak in the months of May and June. At that time 40-60 thousand pilgrims visited the Chardhams every day. In the month of July, this number came down to less than 10 thousand. There has been a huge decrease in the Chardham Yatra after the arrival of monsoon in the first week of July. There was a lot of hustle and bustle as soon as the Yatra started in Rishikesh, the entry point of the Chardham Yatra. Now, the number of pilgrims is expected to increase from the second week of September.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami says that for the last few days, there has been continuous rain in the entire Garhwal region. The Chardham Yatra automatically slows down during the rainy season. Now in the coming days of monsoon, the Chardham Yatra will remain somewhat slow. However, efforts are being made at the government level to ensure that there is no hindrance in the Chardham Yatra.
