Gandhinagar, July 17 (HS). An 18-member delegation from Shizuoka Prefecture of Japan made a courtesy call on Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar on Wednesday. During this, the delegation showed keenness to enhance commercial relations with Gujarat, education, research, tourism and cultural relations in a cordial manner.
A delegation led by Atsuyuki Rachi, member of Shizuoka Provincial Assembly of Japan and General Secretary of India-Japan Friendship Parliamentary League of the Assembly there, is currently on a visit to Gujarat. Today, this delegation met Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. In this courtesy meeting with Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, he showed keenness to take forward the bridge of people to people connect, education, research, tourism and cultural relations with Gujarat in a cordial manner in the long term, apart from commercial relations. He informed that Shizuoka province has the fourth important position under 'Make in Japan' industries in Japan. Not only this, automobile industries like Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda and Toyota have special importance in Shizuoka province.
Welcoming the delegation, Chief Minister Patel said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India-Japan relations have progressed as a reliable friendly country. He expressed confidence that Gujarat will take these bilateral relations even further. The Chief Minister said that just as 'Made in Japan' has credibility, similarly 'Make in India' with the mantra of 'Zero Defect-Zero Effect' is also committed to manufacturing environment friendly and world class products. Expressing his intention to provide a favorable environment for Japanese industries operating in Gujarat, the Chief Minister said that the government's approach is proactive so that the industries do not face any kind of problem and India-Japan bilateral relations continue to move forward. Chief Minister Patel also appreciated the contribution and cooperation of Japan as a partner country in the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit.
Head of the Japanese delegation Atsuyuki Rachi extended a heartfelt invitation to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to visit Japan and his province. He said that the Governor of his province is also eager to visit India and Gujarat in the coming few months. He also showed readiness to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the trade-industry sector to make the bridge of Gujarat-Shizuoka relations more fruitful.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister presented a work prepared by Kutchi handicraft artisans as a souvenir to the head of the delegation, Atsuyuki Rachi. Honorary Consul of Japan in Gujarat Mukesh Patel, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Pankaj Joshi, Additional Chief Secretary of Industries Department S.J. Haider, Special Officer to the Chief Minister AB Panchal and Managing Director of Industrial Extension Bureau (INDEXT-B) Gaurang Makwana were present in this courtesy meeting with the Chief Minister.
