Ranchi, July 16 (HS). Jharkhand High Court has asked the state government to ensure that DJ is banned in Jharkhand. During the hearing on Tuesday, the division bench headed by Chief Justice BR Sarangi of the High Court said verbally that the loud sound of DJ causes a lot of trouble to people both during the day and night. Especially the elderly have the problem of heart attack. In such a situation, the government should consider this.
The petitioner had requested the court to not play DJ from 10 pm to 6 am in places like banquet halls, marriage halls etc. on the streets under the noise pollution rule. Earlier in this case, a division bench headed by Justice Ranjan Mukhopadhyay of the High Court had directed the state government to issue a 24-hour 7 helpline number so that anyone who is troubled by noise pollution, especially after 10 pm, can file their complaint through the helpline and get rid of noise pollution. Along with this, the government was suggested to spread awareness among the people to avoid noise pollution.
Earlier in September 2023, the Jharkhand High Court had also passed a detailed order in the same petition, in which the state government was also directed to confiscate the music system of any person or institution spreading noise pollution.
