Corona infection has remained a threat to global health for the last four years. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 70.36 crore people have become victims of corona infection and out of these, 69.86 lakh people have also died. However, corona is considered to cause serious problems for people not only in the condition of infection but also in the condition after infection. Even after a year of recovery, people suffering from corona infection are facing problems related to heart, metabolism and brain. In a recent study on the side effects of Covid-19, researchers have warned about lung problems. In this study, it has been found that the rate of lung damage after acute Covid is very high in Indian people. COVID-19 has severely impacted lung function, leading to serious life-threatening side effects. According to this study, in severe cases of Covid, most Indians have a major reduction in lung function. More than half of the people infected with Corona complain of difficulty in breathing.
What do researchers say?
DJ Christopher, professor of pulmonary medicine at the Medical College and lead researcher of the study, says that several studies indicate that the Indian population has a higher rate of lung problems compared to other countries in terms of disease severity. However, the exact causes of lung damage are not understood as the Indian population has a higher incidence of comorbidities compared to other countries.
