Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan, who delivered three consecutive blockbusters last year that grossed Rs 2,600 crore at the global box office, is now focusing on the action thriller King, directed by Kahaani fame Sujoy Ghosh and produced by Pathan director Siddharth Anand. To make it as grand as Jawaan and Pathan, the makers are assembling a big starcast.
Abhishek Bachchan has been cast as the main villain opposite Shah Rukh. Details of his character have been kept under wraps, but according to a report, he will be seen as a sophisticated villain to counter Shah Rukh's mafia persona. Shah Rukh's daughter Suhana will also be seen in the lead role alongside him. She plays a young woman who gets caught in a difficult situation after a life-changing incident.
Siddharth Anand said that Abhishek is an artist whose potential has not been fully utilized yet. He has the ability to surprise the audience in complex roles. Abhishek's character in King is completely negative and he will definitely impress the audience with his acting. When Abhishek was offered this role, he was also surprised, but seeing the depth and importance of the role, he immediately accepted it. Shah Rukh and Abhishek have previously worked in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Happy New Year, but this collaboration is more interesting because it involves both of them. Of these, they are facing each other on screen for the first time.
The shooting of the film is likely to begin in October or November this year while its release is likely to take place next year or early 2026.
