It is raining in most states of the country. It has been raining for the last several days in many districts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Gujarat. Many rivers in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Assam are in spate. There are flood-like conditions in many districts of UP and Assam. 1,342 villages have been submerged due to floods in Assam. 25,367.61 hectares of crop area has been damaged. The Brahmaputra river of the state is flowing above the danger mark in Nimtaghat, Tezpur and Dhubri. So far 109 people have lost their lives due to floods in Assam.
The water level of the Rapti river has risen in Gorakhpur
The water level of Rapti river has risen due to heavy rains in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Flood situation has arisen in Gorakhpur. Many villages have been submerged in water. Apart from Gorakhpur, the water level of Gara river has also increased in Hardoi. About 150 villages of Hardoi have been submerged in flood water. Villagers are forced to live on elevated roads with household items.
Due to rain in Delhi, many areas were flooded
Many areas of Delhi-NCR received heavy rains on Monday. Many places including Civil Lines in Delhi are waterlogged. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the minimum temperature in Delhi on Monday was recorded at 29 degrees Celsius, which is 1.8 degrees Celsius higher than the average for this season.
Rain alert in many districts of Maharashtra
Heavy rains lashed many districts of Maharashtra on Monday. Due to heavy rains, Satara, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri in Maharashtra have been put on red alert. Yellow alert has been issued in Mumbai and Palghar, while orange alert has been issued in Thane, Raigad and Pune. Due to continuous rain and storm, many areas of Mumbai are flooded.
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for Karnataka, Kerala and Goa. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains at isolated places in Konkan, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala.
The monsoon is moving south
IMD scientist Naresh Kumar said that the monsoon is moving downwards (south). Many states of South India will receive heavy rains in the coming days. Due to the possibility of heavy rains, a red alert has been issued for Kerala, Konkan and Goa. All these places may receive more than 20 cm of rain.
Schools closed in many states
Following heavy rains and an IMD red alert in several areas of Goa, the state education department has declared a holiday for schools up to Class 12 on July 15. In Kerala, a red alert was issued for Malappuram, Kannur and Kasargod and an orange alert for Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Wayanad. Schools and institutions have been closed in six districts of Kerala due to heavy rains and storms.
