Camelin founder Subhash Dandekar has passed away, he was ill for a few days

Subhash Dandekar passed away: Subhash Dandekar, founder of Camlin Fine Science and honorary chairman of stationery manufacturer Kokuyo Camlin, has passed away. Family sources have given this information. Subhash Dandekar was 86 years old.

Dandekar was ill for the last few days and passed away at Hinduja Hospital. His last rites will also be performed in Mumbai. Dandekar was serving as the honorary chairman of Kokuyo Camlin after selling the iconic artwork brand to Kokuyo of Japan. He is survived by son Ashish and daughter Anagha. Subhash Dandekar, one of the big names in the Marathi industry, was known as Dada Saheb Digambar Dandekar.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the state has lost the patriarch who brought fame to Marathi industry. “He has brought colour to the lives of thousands of youths by giving them employment. He gave great priority to the preservation of values. He always emphasised that workers should be respected,” Fadnavis said. Dandekar was known for his contribution to social awareness, art and entrepreneurship.

His funeral at Shivaji Park cemetery in Dadar was attended by family members, Camelin Group employees and industry stalwarts. Dandekar was cremated in central Mumbai on Monday and a condolence meeting will be held on Thursday, family sources said.
