The trend of writing various types of Shayari, poems and slogans on the back of trucks has been going on in the country for many years. However, the most famous of these is “Horn OK Please” which appears on the back of all types of trucks from small to big. This line is so popular that a Bollywood film has also been made on it.
Although it is not mandatory to write this line on the truck as per the rules, why is there such a strong tendency to write this line? Most of you may not know the reason behind this, so today we will tell you what is the reason behind writing 'OK Please' on the back of the truck.
What does it mean?
Although writing Horn OK Please on the back of a truck has many meanings, but the most common meaning is to blow the horn before overtaking. Trucks are big and heavy, so it is difficult to turn them quickly. In such a situation, if a vehicle coming from behind has to overtake the truck in front, then blowing the horn of the truck informs the driver that the vehicle coming from behind wants to overtake and the truck driver allows that vehicle to go ahead.
But why write OK?
There are many reasons for writing OK in “Horn OK Please”. One reason for this was that there was a huge shortage of diesel during the Second World War. In such a situation, trucks used to run on kerosene and kerosene was kept in the rear compartment which was very flammable. Therefore, to warn the vehicles coming from behind, 'OK' i.e. on kerosene was written on the back of the truck.
here's another reason
As we said earlier, there are many reasons for writing Horn OK Please. Another reason is that in ancient times, most of the roads were narrow and there was very little space for vehicles to overtake each other. This led to accidents.
In such a situation, 'Horn OK Please' was written on the back of big trucks and a bulb was also fitted on top of OK. This bulb was turned on and the vehicle behind was signaled to move ahead. This made it easier to overtake the vehicles behind.
