Ranchi, July 15 (HS). The petition filed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren for exemption from personal appearance in the ED summons case was heard in the court of MP-MLA Court Special Judge Sarthak Sharma on Monday. ED once again sought time from the court in the case. The court has given ED another chance to file its reply. The next hearing date in the case has been fixed for July 20.
A petition was filed under Section 205 of CrPC for exemption from personal appearance on behalf of the Chief Minister. Earlier on June 3, CJM Krishna Kant Mishra had transferred the case to the MP-MLA Court. Despite the CJM court taking cognizance of the case earlier, Hemant Soren did not appear in the court. In this case, the summons order of the CJM court has been challenged in the High Court on behalf of Hemant Soren. This case is still pending in the High Court. In this regard, complaint number 3952/2024 has been filed in the CJM court by the ED.
what is the matter
ED had filed a complaint against Chief Minister Hemant Soren in the CJM court on February 19 for disobeying the summons. On this, the CJM court took cognizance while hearing on March 4 and ordered to prosecute. During the hearing, ED had told the court that ED had issued summons to Hemant Soren ten times in the land purchase and sale case. He appeared before ED on January 20 on the eighth summons and on January 31 on the tenth summons. ED says that not appearing on the eight summons is contempt of summons.
