Director of Meteorological Center Dr. Bikram Singh has issued an alert of heavy rain in the state till July 19. Most areas of the state are likely to receive light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning and at some places there is a possibility of lightning and heavy to very heavy rain. Due to rain in the mountains, the water level of the rivers is rising. Hence, many areas in the plains have been submerged. Roads are also getting blocked continuously.
There will be huge losses due to the effect of weather, flights may be affected
Talking about the impact of the weather, in sensitive areas, moderate landslides and rock falls may cause obstruction on the roads. There is a possibility of loss of life and property at some places. Heavy rain on melting snow may cause a sudden increase in water flow in drains and rivers. In such a situation, there is a possibility of flood. Waterlogging is expected in low-lying areas. There is a possibility of a slight increase in travel time due to difficult driving conditions due to low visibility on slippery roads. At the same time, there may be minor damage to horticulture, agricultural crops (such as rice, maize, millet, beans, gram etc.), plantation and grain quality. Flight operations to airports may be affected. Helicopter operations to and from various helipads in the district may be affected. There may be loss of life and property due to lightning at some places.
People need to be cautious
People living in sensitive areas prone to landslides need to be cautious. Pilgrims and tourists travelling to Char Dham or other places in the state should be cautious and keep an eye on steep slopes while travelling. People and settlements living near rivers, streams and low-lying areas need to be cautious. Precautions need to be taken for mountaineering expeditions, cold and wet conditions. Travellers or people travelling by vehicle need to be cautious. For this, monitor media reports. Know the weather forecast. Do not swim or go boating in streams during heavy rains.
Weather director gave advice to farmers
The Director of the Meteorological Center has advised the farmers to keep the harvested produce in a safe and dry place. Keep the harvested produce (if in the field) in a safe place. State government officials were advised to take necessary action for the safety of the people.
