Rajya Sabha elections: BJP captured 10 out of 15 seats, Congress lost in Himachal but won three seats in Karnataka

Rajya Sabha election results: Voting was held on 15 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka on Tuesday, in which BJP got a huge victory. Cross voting took place in all three states, due to which BJP got direct benefit in two states. BJP managed to win 10 out of 15 seats.

In the Rajya Sabha elections, cross voting took place for 15 seats in three states, in which BJP won 10, Congress three and Samajwadi Party two. BJP gained the most in this election as it won one more seat in Uttar Pradesh, while Congress could not win in Himachal even after gaining majority.

Himachal Pradesh election shocking

The biggest surprise came from Himachal Pradesh, where Congress candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi lost the election with six MLAs from the ruling Congress cross voting. However, both the candidates got equal 34-34 votes, after which the decision was taken by slip and BJP's Harsh Vardhan emerged victorious, after which the Sukhu government came under the scanner.

BJP leaders said the Congress had lost its majority in the Assembly, but Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said a floor test could take place in the Assembly.

In UP, BJP got 8 seats, SP got 2 seats.

In the Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party won eight seats and the Samajwadi Party, which fielded three candidates, managed to win only two seats.

Congress got 3 seats in Karnataka

The results in Karnataka were as expected with the state's ruling Congress winning three seats and the BJP winning one seat. Congress candidates Ajay Maken, Nasir Hussain and GC Chandrashekhar were victorious. Apart from this, BJP candidate Narayanasa Bhandge has won one seat.

Congress candidates got more votes in the assembly than the party numbers, BJP-JDS candidate Kupendra Reddy lost the election. BJP MLA ST Somashekhar voted in favor of Congress. The eight BJP candidates who won in Uttar Pradesh include former Union Minister RPN Singh, former MP Chaudhary Tejveer Singh, Amarpal Maurya, Sangeeta Balwant, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi, former MLA Sadhna Singh, Naveen Jain and Sanjay Seth.

Samajwadi Party's Jaya Bachchan and Ramji Lal Suman also won. Samajwadi Party's third candidate Alok Ranjan had to face defeat. Let us tell you that out of the 56 Rajya Sabha seats for which voting took place on Tuesday, 41 members almost got their seats in the Upper House.

41 members had already been elected unopposed

BJP national president JP Nadda was made the party's candidate from a vacant seat in Gujarat and was elected unopposed. Similarly, Ashwini Vaishnav was elected to the Upper House for the second time with the support of Odisha's ruling Biju Janata Dal.

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan was also elected unopposed from Madhya Pradesh. In Rajasthan, Sonia Gandhi was elected unopposed and BJP's Chunnilal Garasia and Madan Rathore were also elected unopposed. Gujarat's diamond merchant Govindbhai Dholakia, Jaswant Singh Parmar and OBC Morcha president Mayank Nayak were also elected unopposed. JDU leader in Bihar Sanjay Jha was also nominated for Rajya Sabha.
