Berlin, July 15 (HS). Thanks to the goals of Nico Williams and Mikel Oyarzabal, Spain won the Euro 2024 title by defeating England 2-1 in the title match played at the Olympiastadion in Berlin late on Sunday night.

Spain won the title of European champion for a record fourth time. Spain remained undefeated in the 2024 edition of the tournament and won the prestigious trophy. Meanwhile, England's wait to win the Euro trophy has increased further after losing the final twice.

Both teams played tactical play in the first 15 minutes of the match. However, Spain maintained more possession of the ball and tried to create two big chances. Meanwhile, England came close to scoring the opening goal only once.

The Three Lions struggled in the opening minutes of the match; they failed to get out of their own half as the Spaniards took full control of the midfield, giving the England attackers no chance to trouble Spanish goalkeeper, Unai Simon.

A few minutes before the first half whistle, Spain captain Alvaro Morata found space inside the England box but before he could take a shot, English defender Laporte blocked the Spaniard.

The first half ended goalless, but Spain continued to dominate the Three Lions with 69 per cent ball possession. Meanwhile, Harry Kane's side only had 31 per cent ball possession.

The second half will be crucial for both teams, as no one wants to take the match to a penalty shootout. Spain started the second half with a change, Luis de la Fuente replaced Rodri after he suffered an injury, and Martin Zubimendi replaced him. Nico Williams scored in the 47th minute of the match to give Spain a 1-0 lead.

Mikel Oyarzabal scored in the 86th minute to give Spain a 2-1 lead in the match and this score proved to be decisive. With this, Spain won a record fourth Euro Cup title.
