Jammu, July 14 (HS). Sadguru of Sahib Bandagi Shri Madhuparamhans Ji Maharaj, while delighting the congregation with the nectar of his discourses at Sungal Road Akhnoor, Jammu today, said that the world does not know about Sumiran. Sahib is saying that chanting, penance, restraint, sadhna all come under Sumiran. Like a child does not know the value of money. Elders know. In this way, saints know the importance of Sumiran. Every human being is looking for happiness. This true happiness is found through Sumiran. Like the only suitable means to quench thirst is water. There is no sherbet. There is no juice. There is no other means. Other means are needed to chew the rest. But water is not needed. Thirst can be quenched only by water. The means to remove darkness is light.
It is a different matter how you create light. Sahib is saying that the happiness that is found in Sumiran is not found even in wealth. Brother, what happiness is there in wealth? You get a good house. That is the happiness of the skin. You get good food. That is the happiness of the tongue. You get many good things. All these things have no relation with the soul. Self-happiness is obtained by Sumiran. We all have the desire to find God. Sumiran is the only means to merge in God. There is greatness of Sumiran in Ramayana also. Man is looking for the pleasure of sensual pleasures in the world. Sensual pleasure means the pleasure of the senses. The subject of the ear is sound. The subject of the mouth is taste. The subject of the skin is soft touch. All these are pleasures like fire wrapped in cotton. Behind these pleasures there is a huge mountain of sorrows. Self-happiness is beyond sensual pleasures.
Where did the joy in the soul come from? It is the nature of the soul. Where did the coolness in the water come from? This is its nature. No matter how much you heat it, it will become cold again. This is how the soul is blissful. Why is the soul blissful? Because it is a part of God. This bliss is already present in the soul. Happiness does not have to be brought from anywhere. To get happiness of the mouth, one has to eat delicious things. There is no happiness in the nose. To enjoy it, fragrance is needed. But nothing is needed to enjoy the soul. To enjoy the happiness of the eyes, beautiful sight is needed. But being a part of God, the soul is filled with endless treasures of happiness.
