MP: Higher Education Minister Parmar launched the “Vidyaavan” scheme in JNS College

Shajapur, July 13 (HS). Higher Education Minister Inder Singh Parmar on Saturday launched the innovative scheme “Vidya Van” of the Higher Education Department at Jawaharlal Nehru Smriti Government Post Graduate College located in Shujalpur of Shajapur district. On this occasion, 251 saplings were planted in the college campus. The target has been set to develop “Vidya Van” by planting 1100 saplings here.

On the occasion of the inauguration of “Vidyaavan”, Higher Education Minister Parmar said that in the present scenario, keeping in view the unexpected increase in global temperature and the continuous decrease in forest wealth, there is a need to develop forests with public participation in the direction of environmental protection. The Higher Education Department has innovated in the form of “Vidyaavan” scheme to awaken positive feelings towards environmental protection among college students. Parmar said that “Vidyaavan” will be developed in all the colleges of the state.

It is noteworthy that under the guidance of Higher Education Minister Parmar, the Higher Education Department has taken an innovative initiative in the form of “Vidya Van” scheme to increase awareness about environmental protection among the college students of the state and to generate positive feelings towards health in them. The Higher Education Department has issued instructions regarding developing “Vidya Van” in all government, non-government and grant-in-aid colleges of the state and planting trees in it. According to this, all the colleges will have to select suitable land for “Vidya Van” in the institution campus, in case of non-availability of land in the college, availability of land near the institution campus will have to be ensured by coordinating with the local administration.

To ensure the important role of college students in tree plantation, they have been asked to plant trees on days of their personal importance such as their birthdays etc., encourage them to maintain and monitor them. Instructions have also been given to ensure responsibility for the growth and maintenance of trees. In coordination with the Forest Department, they have been asked to prepare a tree plantation plan for developing 'Vidya Van' and give priority to trees to be planted such as Neem, Peepal, Karanja, Maulshree, Gular, Tamarind, Mahua etc. Apart from these, instructions have also been given to plant native species that emit more oxygen and are naturally suitable to the local climate, soil and ecological conditions.

On this occasion, College Public Participation Committee Chairman Alok Khanna, College Principal Dr. Rajesh Sharma, Sports Teacher Devendra Kumbhakar, Dr. Mukesh Mewada, Dr. Bherulal Choradia, Raghuveer Singh Rathore along with college professors and others were present.
