Haryana: Under the Van Mitra Yojana, Rs 20 will be given per tree for planting and conservation

Chandigarh, July 13 (HS). Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh today launched two ambitious schemes aimed at environmental protection and protection from pollution at the 75th state-level Van Mahotsav program organized in Karnal. This includes Van Mitra and Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam Yojana.

Along with planting trees by digging pits, Van Mitras will also protect them. For this work, they will be given Rs 20 per tree by the government. Similarly, under the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam scheme, trees planted by people will be handed over to Van Mitras for protection. For this work, Van Mitras will be given Rs 10 per tree by the government.

Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Oxy Forest established in Karnal. The foundation stone of this Oxy Forest being established in an area of ​​40 hectares was laid by the then Chief Minister Manohar Lal on June 5, 2021. 9 types of forests are being developed in this Oxy Forest. 10 thousand trees were planted earlier in the Oxy Forest and today 20 thousand more saplings were planted simultaneously by various social-religious organizations, students and NCC cadets. The Chief Minister congratulated them for this work. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also released 9 books published by the Forest Department.

The Chief Minister said that on the occasion of World Environment Day on 5th June, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had started a unique campaign in the name of One Tree Mother in Delhi.

Referring to the Covid pandemic, the Chief Minister said that the Covid pandemic had taught us that oxygen is most important for saving life on this earth. Keeping this in mind, the government started a scheme to produce oxygen on an area of ​​5 to 100 acres in every district for environmental protection. In the year 2022-23, 22 Oxyvans have been installed in urban and rural areas. The work of installing Oxyvans in district Panchkula is in progress.

The Chief Minister said that many schemes have been started to make Haryana green. Under this, to increase the forest area, 22,425 hectares of area in Gurugram, Nuh, Rewari and Mahendragarh districts falling in the Aravalli Hills has been notified as protected forest in the year 2023-24 and Rs 6 crore has been spent on its conservation. Apart from this, the government has started building Panchvati gardens in 134 pilgrimages located within the 48 Kos perimeter of Dharmakshetra-Kurukshetra. These pilgrimages are located in Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Karnal and Panipat districts.

The Chief Minister said that under the Pranavayu Devta Pension, a provision of pension of Rs 2750 per tree per year has been made for the maintenance of trees. In the year 2023-24, under this scheme, an amount of Rs 2750 per tree has been deposited in the accounts of the guardians of 3819 trees. The Chief Minister said that like every year, this year too the target is to plant about 1.5 crore saplings. Since October 2014, about 18 crore saplings have been planted in the state.
