Gopalganj, July 13 (HS). On the information of release of three lakh cusecs of water from Valmiki Nagar Barrage due to heavy rainfall and in view of the rising water level of Gandak river, as per the direction of District Magistrate Mo Maqsood Alam, the officials inspected the embankment Dumaria Ghat and Banjaria village of Sidhwalia block.
In this sequence, all the sensitive potential erosion sites and water level of Tandspur Chharki and Dumriya Ghat were inspected. The district administration is fully alert regarding the rising water level of Gandak river. The Executive Engineer Flood Control informed that currently the water level and flow pressure is at two lakh cusecs.
According to the information received, preparations have been completed in view of the possibility of 3 lakh cusec discharge tomorrow. On the instructions of the District Officer, the vigilance of dams has been increased at various places. On the preparations for protection from possible floods, Executive Engineer Flood Control Pramod Kumar told that EC bags (sand filled bags) have been stocked in sufficient quantity at various places. Assistant Engineer Flood Control, Zonal Officer Sidhwalia Pritilata were also present during the inspection.
