New Delhi, July 13 (HS). There is good news on the economic front. The treasury of the central government is full before the full budget of the current financial year 2024-25. Net direct tax collection has jumped 24.07 percent so far to Rs 5.74 lakh crore. In the same period of the previous financial year 2023-24, net direct tax collection was Rs 4.80 lakh crore.
According to the data released by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), net direct tax collection till July 11, 2024 increased by 24.07 percent to Rs 5.74 lakh crore. In the same period of the previous financial year 2023-24, net direct tax collection was Rs 4.80 lakh crore. According to CBDT, this includes corporate tax of Rs 2.1 lakh crore and personal income tax of Rs 3.46 lakh crore. Personal income tax figures also include income received from securities transaction tax (STT).
CBDT said that after adjusting for refunds, direct tax collection in June stood at Rs 4.62 lakh crore, which is an increase of 20.99 percent on an annual basis. This includes corporate tax of Rs 1.8 lakh crore and personal income tax of Rs 2.81 crore.
It is worth noting that the budget session of Parliament is starting from July 22, 2024. On the second day of the budget session on July 23, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is going to present the full budget of 2024-25 in the Lok Sabha.
