Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the country's financial capital Mumbai today. During this, Prime Minister Modi will launch many projects. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) of the Government of India has provided detailed information about the program in a release.
According to a PIB release, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Nesco Exhibition Center in Goregaon at 5:30 pm. Here he will inaugurate and dedicate to the nation several projects related to road, railway and port sector costing more than Rs 29,400 crore and will also lay the foundation stone of several projects.
After this, Prime Minister Modi will visit the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) Secretariat at G-Block of Bandra Kurla Complex at around 7 pm and inaugurate the INS Tower. The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of the Rs 16,600 crore Thane-Borivali Tunnel Project. The twin tube tunnel between Thane and Borivali will pass through Sanjay Gandhi National Park. It will establish a direct connectivity between the Western Express Highway towards Borivali and Thane Ghodbunder Road towards Thane. The total length of the project is 11.8 km. This will reduce the journey from Thane to Borivali by 12 km and save about an hour in travel time.
According to the release, Prime Minister Modi will lay the foundation stone for the tunnel construction work under the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) project. Its cost is more than Rs 6300 crore. GMLR envisages road connectivity from the Western Express Highway in Goregaon to the Eastern Express Highway in Mulund. The total length of GMLR is about 6.65 km and it will provide direct connectivity to the western suburbs with the new proposed airport in Navi Mumbai and the Pune Mumbai Expressway.
PM Narendra Modi will also lay the foundation stone of Kalyan Yard Re-modelling and Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal at Turbhe in Navi Mumbai. Kalyan Yard will help in separating long distance and suburban traffic. Re-modelling will increase the capacity of the yard and will enable it to accommodate more trains. This will reduce congestion and improve train operational efficiency. Gati Shakti Multi Modal Cargo Terminal in Navi Mumbai will be built in an area of over 32600 square meters. It will provide additional employment opportunities to the local people and will serve as an additional terminal to handle cement and other commodities.
PM Modi will dedicate to the nation a new platform at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and extension of platform numbers 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus station. The new longer platforms will enable longer trains to be accommodated at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, accommodating more passengers on each train and improving the station's capacity to handle increased traffic. Platform numbers 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus station have been extended to 382 metres with covered sheds and washable aprons. This will help increase the number of passengers by 24 coaches in trains.
Apart from this, the Prime Minister will also launch the Chief Minister Yuva Karya Pragati Yojana worth about Rs 5600 crore. It is a transitional internship program. It aims to address youth unemployment by providing opportunities for skill development and industry experience to youth aged 18 to 30 years. According to the release, the Prime Minister will also visit the Indian Newspaper Society (INS) Secretariat at Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai to inaugurate the INS Towers. The new building will meet the growing needs of INS members for modern and efficient office space in Mumbai. It will also serve as the control center of the newspaper industry in Mumbai.
