Mumbai: The High Court has given relief to Rahul Gandhi on the petition challenging the current order of Bhiwandi Court in the defamation case for making controversial statement about Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The magistrate court on Friday cancelled the order allowing the RSS worker to produce additional documents from Navsar.

The magistrate court agreed to attach the annexure filed by prosecutor Rajesh Kunte to the petition filed by Rahul Gandhi in the High Court in 2014. This order was challenged by Rahul Gandhi in the High Court. This annexure contains Rahul Gandhi's speech in which he is accused of making controversial statements.

During the 2014 Lok Sabha election campaign, Rahul Gandhi had made a controversial statement about the RSS. RSS worker Rajesh Kunte has filed a defamation complaint against him in the Bhiwandi Magistrate Court.

In 2023, the Bhiwandi Magistrate Court allowed Kunte to produce a copy of Gandhi’s speech, which Rahul had attached to his 2014 petition seeking quashing of the summons. Kunte argued that by including excerpts from the speech in the petition, Gandhi had inadvertently admitted the speech.

Gandhi argued that the prosecution wanted to admit the entire speech rather than prove the speech itself. This order was challenged in the High Court.
