Ramgarh, July 12 (HS). It is very important to test samples to prevent fluorosis disease. In the areas where fluorosis patients are found, they will have to be treated by running a campaign. Civil surgeon Dr. Mahalakshmi Prasad said this during the National Fluorosis Prevention and Control Program organized at the Civil Surgeon Office on Friday.
A meeting of the District Level Coordination Committee was organized under the National Program for Prevention and Control of Fluorosis. During the meeting, emphasis was laid on establishment of NPPCF laboratory, status of trained manpower for NPPCF, coordination with the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, survey of schools, community survey, fluorosis screening of pregnant women during PSMA, fluorosis screening in OPD, publicity in schools, formation of annual district level coordination committee, promotion of comprehensive IEC activities in the district, organizing special screening camps.
Apart from this, distribution of vitamin C, D and calcium tablets and corrective measures to prevent fluorosis etc. were discussed. Along with this, guidelines were given to CHOs and LTS from all blocks. During the meeting, special emphasis was laid on collecting and increasing samples in fluorosis affected areas, so that medicines can be distributed among the affected people. The drinking water and sanitation department asked for water testing in various areas and to provide all possible cooperation.
Dr. Uday Shankar Srivastava, Deputy Superintendent, Sadar Hospital, Engineer, Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, all in-charge Medical Officers, District Consultant Dr. Pallavi Kaushal, DPMYU and BPEMU team, CHOs and LTS of all blocks, and others were present in the meeting.
