Retail inflation rate jumped to 5.08 percent in June

New Delhi, July 12 (HS). There is shocking news on the inflation front. The retail inflation rate based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) has jumped to a four-month high of 5.08 percent on an annual basis in June. In the previous month of May, the retail inflation rate was 4.75 percent. This was the lowest level in 12 months.

The Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation said in a statement on Friday that the retail inflation rate has increased in June due to the increase in the prices of vegetables, pulses and food items. The National Statistical Office said that the retail inflation rate was 5.08 percent in June. In the previous month of May, it was 4.75 percent.

Food inflation rose to 9.36 percent in June, which was 8.69 percent in May. Vegetable inflation was 29.32 percent in June, which was 27.33 percent in May. Pulses inflation was 16.07 percent in June, which was 17.14 percent in May. However, there has been a slight decrease in the inflation of pulses in June. Fruits inflation was 7.1 percent in June, which was 6.68 percent in May.

According to the data, the inflation rate of grains and related products has also been 8.75 percent, which was 8.69 percent in May. The inflation rate of sugar was 5.83 percent, which was 5.70 percent in May. However, the inflation rate of eggs has come down to 3.99 percent, which was 7.62 percent in May. Urban inflation has also increased from 4.21 percent to 4.39 percent. Apart from this, the rural inflation rate has increased from 5.34 percent to 5.66 percent.
