The three boys told the police that they had seen the girl playing near Muchumari Park. The boys persuaded her to play with them. On the pretext of playing hide and seek, they took her to a deserted place near the Muchumari irrigation project.
There they held the girl hostage and raped her in turns. Meanwhile, the girl fainted. The three were afraid that if the girl complained about this to her parents, they would be arrested because the girl had identified them. So the three killed her and threw the body in a nearby canal and fled from the spot.
