New Delhi, July 11 (HS). The Supreme Court on Thursday postponed the hearing on the NEET exam case. The bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said that some parties have not received the answers of the Central Government and NTA and they need time to look at the answers. With the consent of the lawyers of all the parties, the Supreme Court ordered the next hearing of the case on July 18.
In this case, the central government has cited the data of Madras IIT and said that there is no evidence of large-scale irregularities in the exam and it is not in favor of canceling the NEET exam. NTA has also filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court saying that the video of NEET paper leak being circulated on the Telegram app was fake. Earlier on July 8, the Supreme Court had admitted that the sanctity of the exam has been affected. If the children got the paper on the day of the exam and memorized it, it means that the paper was leaked only at the local level. If we do not know how many students were involved in this, then a re-examination will have to be ordered.
During the hearing, the Chief Justice had said that we also have to see how the paper was leaked. If it happened through social media, it means the paper would have been leaked on a large scale. The Chief Justice had said that we want to know what is the entire process of paper setting. How and with whom was it sent to the printing press. How was it sent from the press to the bank. This will make it easier to find out from where the paper was leaked. Now it has to be seen how this has happened and to what extent. The Chief Justice had asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta that if the exam is not cancelled, then how will the students who passed through fraud be identified. What has been done to identify them.
The Chief Justice, while directing the CBI to file a status report on the investigation done so far, said that in the meantime you all should sit together and reach a consensus. We can appoint a nodal advocate like the Constitution Benches, so that he can collect the written arguments of all the parties and present them before the court. The court said that we want to know from the government what the government has done so far to identify the beneficiaries. The Chief Justice said that 67 students have got 100% marks. We also have to understand what is the pattern of giving marks.
The court said that if for once we assume that we do not cancel the exam, then what is being done to identify the beneficiaries of the fraud. The Chief Justice told Mehta that you should ask the government and tell us whether we cannot find out through the data analytics program in the cyber forensic department because we have to identify whether the entire exam has been affected. Is it possible to identify the wrongdoers. In that case, a re-examination can be ordered only for those students.
