Now metro tickets can also be booked through IRCTC, advance booking and cancellation facility is also available

If you have reached Delhi by train and want to go anywhere in Delhi-NCR by metro, then now you can book train tickets as well as metro travel tickets in advance. Similarly, if you want to reach a railway station by metro and want to take a train from there, then also you can book train and metro tickets together from the same online platform. Just as a reserved train ticket can be booked four months i.e. 120 days in advance, similarly a metro travel ticket can be booked 120 days in advance.

Not only this, if the train reaches the destination late or early or the train is missed and the passenger has to catch another train, then in such a situation the metro ticket will be valid 2 days before and 2 days after the scheduled date. This means that even if you reach early or late, your money will not be lost and you will be able to travel with the same metro ticket. If for any reason the train ticket has to be cancelled, then the metro ticket can also be cancelled along with it.

One India One Ticket Initiative

IRCTC, DMRC and CRIS (Railway Information Service Centre) have joined hands to promote the 'One India, One Ticket' initiative and provide convenient ticket booking facility to passengers. The three organizations will work together in a collaborative way to improve the travel experience for mainline railway and metro passengers in the Delhi-NCR region. Under this, Delhi Metro tickets with QR code can now be booked through IRCTC website and mobile app.

IRCTC App beta version launched

The beta version of IRCTC's mobile app was launched on Wednesday, which will currently run on phones with Android operating system. Feedback will be taken from people for the next three-four months and based on that, necessary improvements or changes will be made and the full version of the app will be launched. Many other senior officials including IRCTC CMD Sanjay Kumar Jain and DMRC MD Dr. Vikas Kumar were also present.

According to DMRC, any passenger who books a metro ticket using QR code, his QR code will be printed on the train ticket. If the passenger wants, he can take a printout of the ticket and keep it with him, take a screenshot on his phone or download the ticket and save it on his phone.

There will be relief from long queues for metro tickets!

However, the metro ticket will be valid for only one journey. This new facility will greatly benefit those people who come to Delhi from outside for some work and do not use smart cards. Such people will not have to stand in long queues to buy metro tickets at metro stations adjacent to railway stations. After leaving the railway station, they will reach the metro station and can proceed further by boarding the train directly.
