Air India Vistara Merger: The merger of Air India and Vistara is likely to affect about 600 employees of both the airlines. However, efforts will be made to provide them employment in other units within the Tata Group and Air India Group. Sources gave this information on Wednesday. Both these loss-making airline companies are owned by the Tata Group. Their total number of employees is more than 23,000. The Tata Group is working on a plan to merge its airlines to improve its aviation business.
600 employees likely to be affected
Sources associated with the merger plan told PTI-Bhasha that about 600 employees of Air India and Vistara may be affected by the merger. These employees are involved in work related to non-aviation activities. Sources said that efforts will be made to provide employment to these employees affected by the merger process in Air India as well as other companies of Tata Group. A voluntary separation scheme package will be brought for the employees who cannot be accommodated in any group.
When will the merger process begin?
According to sources, the merger process is expected to be completed by the end of September or early October. The exact number of affected employees will be known only after the process is completed. There has been no response from Air India in this regard. The exercise to implement the merger process has been going on for the last few months. During this time, the employees of the airlines are being selected keeping in mind their previous experience, performance and other factors. However, sources clarified that the merger process will not have any effect on the crew members and pilots of both the airlines.
