Mumbai: The Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI) is proving to be beneficial for telecom equipment manufacturers. The government has announced that the sales of telecom equipment manufacturing companies have crossed Rs 50,000 crore.
Telecommunications equipment includes radios, routers, and network equipment, among other devices.
Within three years, Rs 3400 crore has been invested under the Telecom PLI scheme and not only this, the sale of telecom equipment has crossed Rs 50,000 crore, government data says that telecom equipment worth Rs 10,500 crore has been exported from the country.
Around 17800 direct jobs have been created under the PLI scheme. The government's PLI scheme initiative has not only boosted domestic production but also reduced dependence on imports and increased production capacity.
Under the PLI scheme, the government provides financial assistance to manufacturers. According to government data, the scheme has resulted in a boost in the production and export of mobile phones in the country, government sources said.
