Turnover of Khadi and Village Industries crossed Rs. 1.5 lakh crore for the first time

Khadi and Village Industries: Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has set a new record in production, sales and new employment generation in the financial year 2023-24. On Tuesday, KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar released the provisional figures for the financial year 2023-24. Surpassing all previous figures, sales increased by 399.69 percent (about 400%), production increased by 314.79 percent (about 315%) and new employment generation increased by 80.96 percent (about 81%) compared to FY 2013-14. Moreover, sales increased by 332.14%, production increased by 267.52% and new employment generation increased by 69.75% in FY 2022-23 compared to 2013-14.

This excellent performance of KVIC has contributed immensely in realising the vision of 'Developed India' by the year 2047 and making India the third largest economy of the world. For the first time in the history of independent India, the sale of KVIC products (in the financial year 2023-24) will reach Rs. 1.55 lakh crore.

The sales figure for FY 2022-23 was Rs 1.34 lakh crore. In the last 10 years of the 'Modi Government', the sales of indigenous Khadi and Village Industries products made by artisans in rural areas in FY 2013-14 was Rs. 31154.20 crore, while in FY 2023-24 it increased to Rs. 155673.12 crore reaching an all-time high. KVIC's efforts in FY 2023-24 have created 10.17 lakh new jobs in rural areas, strengthening the economy of rural India.

KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar attributed this historic achievement to the inspiration of Pujya Bapu, the guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the tireless efforts of millions of artisans working in remote villages of the country. In a statement, he said that the 'brand power' of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has increased the public's trust in Khadi products. Khadi has become a 'new status symbol' of fashion for the youth.

The demand for Khadi and Village Industry products is increasing rapidly in the market, the result of which is visible in the production, sales and employment figures. He further said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, big decisions have been taken in the last 10 years to increase the production of Khadi and Village Industry, which are yielding positive results. He further said that these figures are proof of the fact that the people of the country have increased their trust in 'Make in India', 'Vocal for Local' and 'Swadeshi Products'.

While the production of Khadi and Village Industries products in the financial year 2013-14 was Rs. 26,109.08 crores, in the financial year 2023-24 it increased by 314.79 percent to Rs. 108297.68 crores, while in the financial year 2022-23 the production will be Rs. 95956.67 crores. This figure of continuously increasing production is a strong proof of the fact that the Khadi and Village Industries Commission has done historic work in rural areas.

In the last 10 financial years Khadi and Village Industries products have created new records every year in terms of sales. While in the financial year 2013-14 the sales reached Rs. 31154.20 crore with an unprecedented growth of 399.69 percent. 1,55,673.12 crore, which is the highest ever.

New record for production of Khadi clothes
The production of Khadi clothes has also seen an unprecedented growth in the last 10 years. In the financial year 2013-14, the production of Khadi clothes was Rs. 811.08 crores, in the financial year 2023-24 it increased by 295.28 percent to Rs. 3206 crores, which is the best ever. In the financial year 2022-23, the production of Khadi clothes was Rs 2915.83 crores.
