Guwahati, July 10 (HS). RRT SHQ SSB Rangia in collaboration with National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit Puthimari Higher Secondary School under the guidance and directions of DIG Rajeev Rana organized a special camp on Disaster Mitigation, Preparedness, Response and Recovery under the theme “Healthy Society for Youth” at Nabyajyoti Club, Palara (Kamrup).
Officer-in-Charge of RRT SHQ Rangia apprised the participants with powerpoint presentations on means of rescue operations and safety precautions of victims and disasters related to natural and man-made disaster. ASI (GD) BS Deori, Head Constable Dhanendra Sahu and team of RRT SHQ Rangia conducted classes with practical demonstrations on prevention of drowning, use of improvised methods and other equipments, rescue and relief work.
The NSS students and all the participants were introduced to the equipments and gadgets, rescue tactics, methods of practical demonstration, first aid, MFR, CPR, firefighting etc. Retired Principal Ganesh Chandra Sharma, Principals, teachers, students (NSS members) and common people of the area attended the camp.
Apart from disaster management, the officer urged the participants to play a positive role as responsible citizens to control the suicide tendency in the society by spreading awareness. The students expressed their enthusiasm.
