Champawat, July 10 (HS). A seminar was organized in the Vikas Bhawan auditorium on National Fisheries Day. District Magistrate Navneet Pandey was the chief guest of the seminar. During this, he said that if farmers do other work like agriculture horticulture, animal husbandry, poultry farming along with fish farming, then they will get maximum benefit. Fishermen can double this work by taking advantage of government schemes, which will increase their income.
In the meeting, the DM directed the fisheries department to identify 500 new farmers this year and construct fish ponds for them and provide fish seeds. He said that as many fish ponds as possible should be constructed in the river and water areas of the district. The DM also directed to involve women groups in the rural areas in this work under the REAP project. The District Magistrate said that the fish ponds of the fish farmers which have been damaged due to the end of the rains should be repaired under MNREGA and Jal Sanvardhan Yojana. The District Magistrate said that each fish pond should be insured. For this he also directed the Fisheries In-charge to get the ponds insured.
The District Magistrate said that to increase fish production in the district, various committees should be formed and fish farming should be done on a cluster basis. Women groups should be involved in as many ways as possible. For this, the Fisheries Department, Rural Development Department and REAP Project should prepare a joint action plan with mutual coordination. He said that the first target should be fish production in the district, followed by marketing and packaging.
Chief Development Officer Sanjay Singh said that more economic benefits will be obtained by doing fisheries work collectively, he said that if the farmer does fisheries along with his agriculture, horticulture etc. work, then he will get more benefits.
Welcoming everyone in the meeting, District Fisheries Incharge KS Bagadwal congratulated everyone on 'National Fisheries Day' and informed about the departmental schemes for fish farmers and appealed to everyone to take advantage of these schemes and move forward in fish farming. On this occasion, various progressive fish farmers were also honored and fish seeds were distributed to 38 fish farmers.
