Ranchi: India defeated England by five wickets in the fourth Test of the five-match Test series today and won the series with a 3-1 lead. Today, on the fourth day of the game, India had a tough test and at one time its five wickets were at 120 runs against the target of 192 runs. Gill scored unbeaten 52 runs with the help of two sixes in 124 balls and best player of the match Jurel, the wicket-keeper batsman scored unbeaten 39 runs. Was out in 77 balls with the help of two fours. Meanwhile, an unbeaten partnership of 72 runs for the sixth wicket gave India a five-wicket win.
Playing ahead by 40 runs in the third day's play, India lost the wicket of Jaiswal (37) for 84 runs, but with the score of 99 runs for 1 wicket, India was moving ahead peacefully. Rohit Sharma (55) was out on this score.
One more run was added and even though Rajat Patidar was out for 0 after playing six balls, there was no tension in the Indian camp but the 20-year-old right-arm off-spinner Bashir Jadeja (4 off 33 balls) and Sarfaraz. Khan (0, one ball) was out in two balls. He was appointed to the camp.
India still needed 72 runs to win and if one more wicket had fallen early, India could have lost. England's spinners and fielders were also in a very aggressive mood. Gill, who had been struggling for consistent form in the series, was joined by Dhruv Jurel.
In contrast to his aggressive style, Gill showed great footwork against the spinners on the field, earning him a lot of respect. On the other hand, Jurel, who kept England away from a big decisive lead by scoring 90 runs in the first innings, also strongly opposed all the plans of England captain Stokes.
Bashir took 3 wickets for 79 runs.
It seemed as if it took a lot of hard work for India to score 40 runs without a wicket by the end of the third day's play.
Kuldeep Yadav's four wickets and Ashwin's five wickets in the second innings were also decisive for the victory as England were bowled out for 145 runs.
