Major accident on Lucknow-Agra Expressway, sleeper bus collides with tanker, 18 people died

In a tragic road accident in Unnao district on Wednesday morning, a bus and a milk tanker collided. According to the information, a sleeper bus going from Shivgarh in Bihar to Delhi on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway collided with a tanker on the runway in Behta Mujawar police station area. The accident took place while overtaking a milk tanker from the left side on the expressway.

In this accident, 18 bus passengers including two women and a 10-year-old child have died. About 20 passengers are seriously injured. About 100 passengers including children were sitting in the bus. Chief Minister Yogi has taken cognizance of the accident. He has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and directed the officials to immediately reach the spot and provide proper treatment to the injured.

A sleeper bus of a travel company of Mahoba district going from Shivhar of Bihar to Delhi reached the airstrip in front of Jogikot village of Behta Mujawar police station area at around 6 am on Wednesday. The bus collided with a tanker while overtaking a tanker going from Lucknow to Agra. The collision was so severe that both the bus and the tanker were shattered. Due to high speed, the driver's side of the bus was damaged from front to back. Out of the passengers sitting and lying on the seats, 18 people died, while about 20 people were injured.

On receiving the information, the rescue team and PRV reached the spot and started the rescue operation. SP Siddharth Shankar Meena, CO Arvind Kumar reached with the police force and sent everyone to Bangarmau CHC. After treatment, the injured have been referred to Unnao District Hospital. The deceased have not been identified yet. The CO said that efforts are being made to identify the deceased on the basis of tickets booked from the travel company.

After the incident, the injured were admitted to the hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. The traffic on the lane going to Agra came to a halt due to the damaged bus and tanker overturning on the road. Due to the airstrip, there was a jam of about two kilometers on both sides, due to which the UPDA teams cleared the traffic by removing the concrete boulders installed for the divider. Traffic remained affected for about two hours.
