Dehradun, 09 July (HS). An international seminar on 'Solutions to global problems in Indian culture and Mahavira philosophy' was organized in the auditorium of Uttarakhand Raj Bhavan on Tuesday on the occasion of 2550 Nirvana years of Lord Mahavira and the foundation day of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharti Sanstha. The seminar was inaugurated by Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd.). He also released the introduction booklet of Vishwa Shanti Kendra.
The Governor said that the teachings of Lord Mahavira are more relevant in the present times than they were in those times. His philosophy of non-violence, pluralism and aparigraha has solutions to many global problems. He said that at present the whole world is facing problems like war and violence, global warming, environmental pollution, diseases and depression. At a time when the world is facing many challenges, the solution to all these problems lies in Indian culture and the philosophy of Lord Mahavira. The Governor said that following the path shown by Lord Mahavira, Acharya Lokesh is constantly making efforts to propagate his teachings and Indian culture all over the world. In this sequence, this year, programs of the 2550th Nirvana year of Lord Mahavira were organized in the Parliament of Canada and Britain and the Assembly of California in the presence of Acharya Lokesh.
Jain Acharya Lokesh said that thousands of years ago, Lord Mahavir gave the principle of Shatjivikay, which can solve the problems of climate change and environmental imbalance and the root cause of violence can be eliminated through programs like Peace Education. He said that India's first World Peace Center will be based on the principles of Lord Mahavir.

Patanjali's Acharya Bal Krishna said that Indian culture gave the message of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' and 'Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah Sarve Santuh Niramaya' to the whole world. For some, a country can be a market, but for India, the world is a family. Buddhist monk Dipankar Sumedho said that there is a need to adopt the values of non-violence, kindness, compassion, humanity, to inculcate them in our lives and implement them. Peace and goodwill in the world is possible only through the teachings of Mahavira.
The program was conducted by Colonel TP Tyagi and Kenu Agarwal. Tarkeshwar Mishra gave the vote of thanks. Many people including US President's advisor Ajay Bhutoria, program coordinator Satish Agarwal, Prem Prakash Gupta, Vineet Sharma were involved in the successful organization of the program.
