Mumbai, July 09 (HS). The proposal to change the names of seven railway stations in Mumbai was approved unanimously in the Maharashtra Legislative Council on Tuesday. After the approval of the Central Government, the names of these seven railway stations can be changed.
Minister Dada Bhuse on Tuesday presented a proposal in the Legislative Council to change the names of seven railway stations of Mumbai. These include the names of 2 stations of Central Railway, 2 of Western Railway and 3 of Harbour Railway. This proposal was placed for approval in the Legislative Council House by Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council Neelam Gorhe. All the members expressed their consent to this proposal. After the proposal is approved in the Legislative Council, it will now be sent to the Central Government for approval.
In this proposal, it is proposed to rename Curry Road Railway Station on Central Railway as Lalbagh and Sandhurst Road Railway Station as Dongri. On Western Railway, it is proposed to rename Marine Lines Railway Station as Mumbadevi and Charni Road Railway Station as Girgaon Railway Station. On Harbour Railway Line, it is proposed to rename Cotton Green Railway Station as Kalachowki, Dockyard Road Railway Station as Mazgaon and King's Circle Railway Station as Tirthankar Parshvanath Railway Station.
