The government is working on priority basis to release Indian citizens from Russian Army service.

Trapped in the allure of salary worth lakhs of rupees

According to media reports, Indians serving in the Russian Army were offered work as assistants in Russian military companies. In return, there was an offer of salary worth lakhs of rupees. Youth from Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir reached Russia lured by higher salaries. They have been included in the Russian Army and deployed on the border. Now such Indians are requesting help from the Indian government to free them from the service of the Russian Army. Media reports say that the passports of Indians who came to Russia to join the army have been confiscated. Due to this they are stuck in Russia. 18 Indians are stranded on the Russia-Ukraine border till November 2023.
