Bengaluru Metro on Monday suspended a security supervisor after he stopped a poor farmer from using its train service for wearing inappropriate clothes. A passenger posted a video on social media showing the incident at Rajajinagar Metro station on February 18 last and wrote, Unbelievable… Is Metro only for VIPs? Is there any dress code for using the metro? I appreciate the work of Kisan Adhikar Senani at Rajajinagar Metro Station. Bengaluru Metro Rail is quick to point out that Bengaluru Metro is an inclusive public transport. The incident is under investigation and the services of the security supervisor have been terminated. BMRCL regrets the inconvenience caused to passengers.
BMRCL was heavily criticized on social media
In the video, the security supervisor is seen refusing to board the metro for not wearing proper clothes. However, the person standing behind the farmer in the queue immediately took the farmer's side and questioned the security staff as to on what basis did they not allow the farmer to board the metro?
