Mumbai: After a completely dry month of June, heavy rains lashed Mumbai for six hours from 1 pm to 7 am on Sunday, leaving it waterlogged. According to data recorded by rain gauges installed by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Powai area received the highest rainfall of 329.40 mm (13 inches).
According to municipal sources, the entire city received heavy rainfall. However, it was most evident in the belt between Andheri to Kurla and Kurla to Mulund. Powai received the highest rainfall of 13 inches. Due to heavy rains, Ghatkopar, Kurla, Bhandup, Vikhroli, Mulund, Andheri, Sakinaka and other areas were flooded. Within a few hours, the entire city received six to twelve inches of rain and all the preparations of the municipality went in vain.
