Kolkata, July 9 (HS). Rainfall is going to continue throughout this week in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal and the rest of the state. In a statement issued by the Meteorological Department on Tuesday, it has been said that Kolkata will remain partly cloudy and there is a possibility of light rain or thundershowers. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to be around 28 degrees Celsius.
In the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature in Kolkata was recorded at 32.2 degrees Celsius, which is 0.3 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 27.9 degrees Celsius, which is 1.1 degrees above normal. The maximum humidity was recorded at 91 percent and the minimum humidity was recorded at 70 percent. 2.9 mm of rainfall was recorded during this period.
Most parts of South Bengal i.e. Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura are likely to be partly cloudy and have light rain. There may be thundershowers. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is around 27 degrees Celsius. The weather may be hotter and more humid in some places.
Light to moderate rain is expected in the areas of Alipurdurwar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Darjeeling and Kalimpong in North Bengal. The weather is expected to remain relatively cool and humid in these areas. The maximum temperature may remain around 30 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature may remain around 25 degrees Celsius. There is a high possibility of rain in the hilly areas, due to which a drop in temperature can be seen. Similar weather is expected throughout this week.
